The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust

With a diminishing number of Holocaust survivors able to tell their powerful stories and a crowded charity space HMDT needed a different approach to engage with a new, younger generation.

We had to tell real people’s real stories in a way that would make sense to the target audience.

The solution was to create 'Memory Makers', matching artists working across a range of media with genocide survivors. A responsive microsite was created to host this content and centred the campaign on a small but meaningful ‘ask’ – ‘if we all share one story, we’ll help to keeping the memory alive’. Users were directed to a Twitter visualisation which mapped the influence of their act of sharing and showed how the campaign was spreading across social media.
