ARTLAB

ARTLAB, is a family-friendly and interactive art-making space encouraging the discovery of art through play, self-expression and fun.

Over its duration, ARTLAB will offer regularly changing activities that encourage everyone to get creative, based around artistic themes such as Light and Shadows, Texture and Pattern and Shape and Form.

The Laboratory themed space consists of light box tables, overhead projectors, and digital screens. Combining new and old technologies to experiment and create with. The space is surrounded in blocks of bright colour and geometric shapes. These shapes are used to communicate instructional information on large scale wall signage decals and cropped to from patterns on the printed A5 instruction sheets.

All ARLAB text is translated into te reo Māori, using the colour palette to highlight and cross reference words in each language.

Visitors of all ages can exercise and embrace creative thinking with whānau and friends by experimenting with mark making to play, make, imagine and invent.
